Simon Fraser is a Clinical Lecturer in Public Health. He qualified in medicine from Southampton in 1992 and trained as a GP on the Winchester VTS scheme. After ten years as a full time Principal in General Practice in Southampton, he joined the Wessex Public Health training programme while continuing as a part time GP. He became interested in Academic Public Health and completed his doctoral degree in 2014 on the epidemiology of chronic kidney disease, with a particular interest in inequalities and health literacy.

Simon is currently researching the impact of comorbidities in people with chronic kidney disease and methods of improving prevention of acute kidney injury.
His interests include the use of routine data for research. He is currently using the Hampshire Health Record, an anonymised, linked database of over a million people, to investigate chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury.
