Ramsey Cutress is Associate Professor in Breast Surgery at the University of Southampton and an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at Southampton University Hospitals Trust. He completed his medical degree at Oxford University and during clinical surgical training he won a National Breast Reconstructive and Oncoplastic Fellowship. He wrote his Ph.D on the significance of BAG-1 isoform expression in breast cancer demonstrating that BAG-1 potentiates oestrogen dependent transcription within breast cancer cells and showing that BAG-1 expression predicts survival in breast cancer. This work was within Prof Graham Packham’s laboratory, and was funded by a Robertson Trust fellowship from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the ninth Guernsey Research Fellowship from Hope. Ramsey leads a translational research laboratory and divides his time between the clinic and research. In the clinic he leads the development of breast reconstructive and oncoplastic surgery in Southampton. Research interests include clinical aspects breast cancer, breast cancer molecular biology, and breast cancer translational research and clinical trials.
