个人简介

Russell Minns graduated from Kings College London in 2001 with a 1st class honours degree in Chemistry. He obtained his PhD in the coherent control of Rydberg molecules from University College London in 2005 under the supervision of Prof Helen Fielding. Following postdoctoral positions at the University of Virginia with Prof Bob Jones and at UCL with Prof Helen Fielding he was awarded a Ramsay Memorial Research Fellowship in 2009. During this time Russell began to work with high energy and high intensity lasers for the study of molecular dynamics. In 2011 Russell moved to the University of Southampton to continue this work where he is currently a Royal Society University Research Fellow.

研究领域

Our research focuses on time resolved measurements of chemical dynamics predominantly in the gas phase. More specifically, we use the time resolved photoelectron spectroscopy, High harmonic spectroscopy and time resolved Coulomb explosion imaging techniques to study the motions of the atoms within molecules that underlie chemical change and to monitor the molecular interactions with its surroundings. Many of these techniques rely on the use of high energy or high intensity lasers that remove the restrictions on observation window that limit the information available via conventional spectroscopy techniques. The new generation of techniques promise an unhindered view of the entire reaction co-ordinate allowing us for the first time to follow chemical reaction from reactants through transitions states to final products.
