研究领域

Research interests are in the general area of molecular microbiology, using a rage of biochemical and genetic approaches to study a wide range of medically-important topics. Current areas of interest and/or expertise include: the development of novel molecular typing methods for microbial pathogens; the molecular genetics of polyketide biosynthesis (an important class of microbial metabolite that includes many therapeutic drugs, as well as some significant food spoilage toxins); the spread of antibiotic resistance genes by Gram-negative bacterial plasmids; and the regulation of pathogenicity functions in important human pathogens like Escherichia coli O157:H7.
