I am currently employed as a senior lecturer within the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular sciences at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), teaching primarily on the biomedical science, biochemistry and forensic related programmes. This requires me to teach a wide variety of topics and skills to a diverse group of students. My integrated approach exploring physiological, pharmacological and toxicological processes allows me to improve our understanding of the chemical and cellular signalling systems involved with human disease process, from the initial contact of the chemical toxin through to pathological outcome. The focus of my research is to further our understanding of the chemical, biochemical and molecular mechanisms of drug-induced liver injury, particularly focusing on cellular defence and hepatoprotective mechanisms.
