个人简介

I have been a member of academic staff in my current appointment at LJMU since 2009, where I am involved in the teaching of the MPharm Pharmacy degree programme, alongside developing my research interests. In addition to my teaching (in which my primary expertise is in pharmacology, and more specifically neuropharmacology and cell physiology), I have a pastoral role as the MPharm level 7 (4th year) tutor, and in the re-designed MPharm degree programme I am module leader for the 120-credit level 7 MPharm module. My research interests and teaching on the Pharmacy degree programme at LJMU largely revolve around pharmacology and cell physiology. My more specific research interests lie in the field of ion channels, where I am interested in how ion channels function at a cellullar level, and their role in key cellular processes such as proliferation, secretion, differentiation and apoptosis. This extends to the role of ion channels in the development of pathologies, and how ion channels function as part of a much larger mechanism in the development of pathology. I am currently involved in the supervision of a number of PhD students, either as Director of Studies or as a member of the supervisory team, for various projects investigating cellular mechanisms of disease (adipogenesis), antibiotic delivery, and a Daphnia model for disease.
