Robert Palgrave is Lecturer in Inorganic and Materials Chemistry. He completed his PhD at UCL in 2007, before postdoctoral work at the University of Oxford and the University of Liverpool

Materials and Inorganic Chemistry

The group’s research uses epitaxial films to study functional materials. One important application of this is the study of photocatalysts – materials that use light to stimulate chemical reactions. Our research aims to produce structurally simple samples, from which strong conclusions can be drawn on structure-function relationships. Areas of interest include solid state Z schemes, new non-oxide photocatalysts and understanding the behaviour of dopants in TiO2.
