个人简介

Matthew Blunt is a lecturer in Physical Chemistry whose research focuses on 2D materials. His group, which consists of 2 PhD students, uses scanning probe microscopy to study the formation of novel 2D organic nanostructures at surfaces. We investigate different approaches to the synthesis of these 2D materials including: the formation of non-covalent structures via supramolecular self-assembly and the growth of 2D covalent-organic frameworks. In addition to the synthesis of 2D materials we are also interested in developing potential applications for these structures such as: sensors, electrochemical catalysts and functional surface coatings. Dr Blunt has worked as a Lecturer at UCL since 2012 and before this he held a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship (IEF) at KU Leuven in Belgium working with Prof Steven De Feyter.
