个人简介

I have conducted research into fast pyrolysis, hydrothermal liquefaction, hydrothermal carbonisation, life cycle analysis and pilot scale processing that employs anaerobic digestion and combustion fuel production. My diverse experience with regard to biomass conversion has focussed on biomass that is generated from biodiversity management. I have therefore been additionally involved in biodiversity management trials examining floristic diversity on a variety of semi natural landscapes. During my PhD I was a part of the ProGrass consortium research effort (www.prograss.eu). Following my PhD I obtained funding for a short post-doctoral stint creating a life cycle analysis for a Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) wetland biomass to bioenergy innovation competition. I have been the IBERS lead on that project. Alongside a commercial lead partner (AMW Ltd) a winning process was developed during this work that combines thermochemical and biological conversion into a unified system. An associated patent has been submitted. More recently I have taken up my position as a PDRA with Beacon; a varied and highly applied research facility.

研究领域

I am interested in the use of waste biomass and biomass by-products for renewable energy generation. My interests also extend into biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services and sustainability. With regard to processing: I am very much interested in combining thermochemical and biological conversions into unified and sustainable systems and I'm drawn to work with broad merit.
