Dr. Daniella Ryding joined the University of Manchester in September 2013, further to holding lecturing positions for a number of higher education institutions. Daniella commenced her career in the retail industry as a department manager for British Home Stores and then Debenhams, before moving into academia in 1998. Her PhD by publication was warded in 2012, which involved 10 years of published work within the field of consumer behaviour in the retail industry. Daniella is the author of two marketing text books, has made contributions to several others, and has published in a number of business journals. The author is an internationally networked educator with experience in a wide range of administrative, teaching, and research related activities. Her international teaching experience includes the delivery of marketing programmes in both Europe (Austria,Italy,Croatia) and Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong). She is Programme Director for BSc Fashion Marketing within the Design and Fashion Business Research Group based in the School of Materials, and teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. She is a visiting professor for the University of Vitez and supervises both MSc and DBA students in a broad range of business, marketing and retail related topics. Her research outputs are ongoing and her main research interests focus on the use of biometric equipment to measure the underlying mechanisms which impact on cognitive consumer responses to commercial advertising, product branding and packaging, and store environments.

Research interests include customer satisfaction and retention studies within both the food and fashion industries. More recent interests focus on the use of cognitive neuroscience techniques, namely EEG and fMRI technologies, to better understand the complex social and behavioural factors impacting on fashion brand decision making.
