研究领域

My research interests can be generally described as obtaining molecular understanding of radionuclide behaviour in processes that are relevant to the nuclear fuel cycle. This understanding can be used to improve currently established methods or develop novel procedures for the reprocessing, treatment and/or disposal of spent nuclear fuel and residues, and assist in the decommissioning of nuclear sites. Studies involve working with aqueous, organic and ionic melt systems, with particular focus on the transuranic actinides (i.e. Np, Pu, Am).I am interested in applying electrochemical techniques to understand the redox behaviour of radionuclides and my research group extensively uses various spectroscopic and diffraction methods (e.g. electronic absorption, Raman/infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption, electron paramagnetic resonance) to characterise radionuclide species and probe their behaviour.
