个人简介

Dr Rade Durbaba was appointed as Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences specialising in neuroscience at Northumbria University in September 2007. Though born and raised in Northampton, he is of Serbian and Croatian extraction. He graduated in 1986 at the University of East Anglia (UEA) with a BSc Honours degree in Biophysics. Rade then graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh in 1987. Continuing his academic studies on a part-time basis whilst working in the Neurophysiology Laboratory of Professor Anthony Taylor at the Sherrington School of Physiology at St. Thomas’ Hospital London (November 1989 – September 1995), he obtained an MSc in Neurophysiological Basis of Behaviour from Guildhall University, London in 1995. In October 1995, Rade moved to the Department of Physiology at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School. Again studying on a part-time basis, Rade produced a thesis entitled 'Intrafusal Muscle Fibre Components of Fusimotor Function' leading to a PhD (University of London) in 2001. Rade held a Research Lecturership at Imperial College London prior to moving to Northumbria University where he is teaching on both the Medical Physiology and Neuroscience courses of the SGU MD programme. Dr Durbaba is a member of The Physiological Society and the Society for Neuroscience.
