个人简介

Dr Darren Walsh began his career with a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Dublin City University in 2002 before moving to the University of Texas at Austin as a PDRA with Allen J. Bard. In 2005, he took a position as a Lecturer in Physical Chemistry at Newcastle University, before moving in 2007 to his current position as Lecturer in Physical Chemistry at the University of Nottingham, and member of the EPSRC-funded DICE (Driving Innovation in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering) Project (EP/D501229/1). His primary research interests are the development of novel catalysts for fuel cells and the electrochemical applications of room temperature ionic liquids. He is the author of 37 original research articles and invited book chapters in the areas of fuel cell catalysis and physical and analytical electrochemistry. He is a collaborator in the recently funded EPSRC Catalysis Hub based at Harwell (EP/K014706/1) and a member of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Centre for Doctoral Training based between Birmingham, Nottingham and Loughborough. He also serves on the Royal Society of Chemistry's Electrochemistry Interest Group Committee and East Midlands Local Section Committee. He has a strong record of outreach to the public and regularly performs chemistry demonstration lectures for general audiences in the School of Chemistry at Nottingham. He is also a presenter on the Periodic Table of Videos, an award-winning chemistry channel on YouTube that, as of May 2013, has 254,953 subscribers (www.periodicvideos.com).
