个人简介

Jairton Dupont was born in the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). He gained his PhD in Chemistry from the Université Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg (1988) under the supervision of Prof. Michel Pfeffer, and after postdoctoral research assistant at the Dyson Perrins Laboratory of the University of Oxford (Professor S. G. Davies), he was appointed in 1990 to a Research Fellow at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). He was subsequently promoted to Assistant Professor (1992), Associate Professor (2000) and Professor (2008). In 2014 he was appointed an EPSRC/GSK Chair in Sustainable Chemistry in the School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Strasbourg, and Montpellier, France, the University of Alcala de Henares and Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona, Spain and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (2005), Germany. He has published over 270 publications and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). His awards include the Humboldt Award, the Conrado Wessel Science Award, the TWAS Chemistry Award, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Award and the Brazilian Gran Cruz. He serves on the Advisory Board of several journals (Chem. Commun., Dalton Trans., Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., Chem. Eur. J., ChemSusChem, ChemCatChem, ChemPlusChem, ChemPhysChem, J. Mol. Catal. A-Chem., Catal. Commun. ACS Sustainable Chem. Eng., Topics In Organometllic Chemistry and is Associate Editor of the New Journal of Chemistry. In 2011 he was named as one of the top 100 most cited chemists of the previous decade.

Current research interests involve chemical and physical applications of ionic liquids, with particular emphasis on sustainable chemistry.
