Tom Gray joined the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham in June 2013, after 24 years service to the NHS. Most recently Tom was Chief Pharmacist at the Royal Derby Hospital 2003-2013. Following graduation at Robert Gordon's University in 1989, Tom completed his pre-registration training at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, before taking up a residency at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary in 1990, when he completed his post-graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy. Tom worked in Cancer and Palliative Medicine for 8 years before transferring to the Pharmacy Academic Practice Unit at the University of Derby to deliver postgraduate pharmacy training and help develop training courses for pharmacy technicians and the DPharm. In 2000 he transferred back to the hospital to lead clinical pharmacy services, prior to becoming Chief Pharmacist. In 2009 he was seconded part-time to the then East Midlands Strategic Health Authority as Pharmacy Lead, to deliver the QIPP work stream for prescribing and medicines, and to provide clinical leadership and support to pharmacy.
