Dr. Giovanna Pari is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, division of Neurology; she joined the faculty in July 2000.
Dr. Pari completed her Neurology training at McGill University in 1997, and did a Fellowship in Neuromuscular diseases at the Montreal Neurological Institute under the supervision of Dr. George Karpati. She also has a Master degree in Sciences, University of Ottawa, related to work done on studying molecular signals of differentiation in embryonal carcinoma cells.
Dr. Pari currently is Director of the Movement Disorder Clinic at Kingston General Hospital. Her clinical interests are in treating individuals with Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease. She is actively involved in clinical trials on treatments for Parkinson's disease. She is also co-investigator with Dr. Douglas Munoz of the Centre for Neuroscience Studies in research using functional MRI to assess cognitive abnormalities in Parkinson's disease.
