Dr. Henryk Kafka is a clinical cardiologist with special expertise in cardiac imaging and adult congenital heart disease.
Dr. Kafka spent 23 years in the Canadian Army during which time he was a member of the faculty at University of Ottawa Heart Institute and head of the Cardio-Pulmonary Unit at the National Defence Medical Centre where his work focused on the angiographic and echocardiographic assessment of acquired heart disease in young adults. In 1996, Dr. Kafka came to Belleville to participate in community-based cardiology and to work in the angiography lab at the Kingston General Hospital. In 2005 and 2006, he was Visiting Consultant Cardiologist and Senior Fellow at the Adult Congenital Cardiac Centre of the Royal Brompton Hospital in London UK and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute of Imperial College, returning to Queen’s to participate in the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic and the echocardiography lab.
Dr Kafka’s clinical interests have continued to focus on community cardiology, adult congenital heart disease, cardiac imaging, and the bedside clinical assessment.
