个人简介

I qualified as a midwife in September 2009, from Swansea University, and since qualifying have had a range of experience in a variety of different roles within midwifery, working in London, Melbourne, and Bristol before finally returning home to Swansea in 2014. Working as a midwifery lecturer is a new and exciting challenge for me, and I am motivated and enthusiastic about developing within this role. In 2015 I started a MA in Education for Health Professions to develop an in-depth understanding of educational principles and values and develop my teaching expertise. In addition to my role within the University, I also continue to work clinically as a midwife within ABMU Health Board, which I hope also contributes to my teaching and my ongoing development as a midwife. I am passionate about promoting informed choice for women, to aid them in the numerous decisions they will be asked to make throughout their pregnancies, labour and birth. For me, this starts with excellent education for student midwives, in helping them understand the evidence that guides midwifery practice and empowering them to, in turn, support and empower women in their care.
