个人简介
I did my PhD and clinical training in Tokyo. My doctoral dissertation investigated the cognitive process in which perfectionism personality leads to positive and negative consequences. I moved to Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London to do my post-doctoral project on reassurance seeking in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). In severe anxiety disorders such as OCD, reassurance can cease to be a benign way of reducing anxiety and may instead become part of an escalating pattern of anxiety-related behaviours, not only for the sufferer but also for those who are close to them and are trying to help. After returning to Japan, I have expanded my research project on reassurance seeking to health anxiety. In the case of health anxiety, reassurance seeking is related to the social cost (e.g. by frequent GP visit and request for medical exams) and the personal cost (e.g. buying unnecessary over-the-counter drugs). Moreover, along with three other psychiatrists, I established a CBT training course in Chiba University, in order to increase the number of cognitive behavioural therapists. In addition to the research projects on OCD, health anxiety, and perfectionism, I am currently interested in facilitating help seeking behaviour in young adults and athletes.
