个人简介

I have an interdisciplinary background in Demography and Sociology applied to Social Policy (BScHons, UK; MSc, MPhil Sociology, PhD Demography, La Sorbonne, Paris). My academic career has involved interdisciplinary, cross-comparative research on population ageing, and its implications for population policy and development, family and intergenerational relationships, and more recently, older people’s living environments, in relation to the Indian Ocean (Mauritius), Pacific Region (New Zealand), European (French) and UK contexts. I have collaborated in European and international research projects (e.g. UN Fertility and Family Surveys project; French-British ESRC-EC International Comparisons of Family Policies in Europe project; New Zealand, FRST – Mid-life transactions project; ESRC-UK & CNAF-EC-France Comparison of Housing Adaptations project), and since arriving at Swansea, have collaborated with Welsh Government and third sector partners in developing and leading on various projects (housing adaptations; older people and technology; extra-care housing; intergenerational relations). At present, I am joint co-ordinator of the working group on Housing & Ageing Populations for the European Network on Housing Research; Executive Committee member of the British Society of Gerontology, member of the British Social Policy Association, and current Director of Swansea’s Social Policy Undergraduate Programme. I write and review for leading scientific journals in the fields of Social Gerontology and Sociology. My teaching expertise is in comparative social policy, family policy and ageing studies.
