I started my career as a student midwife in East London where I completed 3 years training in diverse Whitechapel and Hackney. I came back to Wales to practice as a newly qualified midwife in Cardiff. After a short time in UHW, I moved on to Aneurin Bevan Health Board and spent 5 fantastic years as an integrated midwife, based in a stand-alone birth centre in the South Wales Valleys. In 2010 I decided to take a big step and head back to university to pursue a postgraduate masters, and in 2011 I completed an LLM in Medical Law from Cardiff University. This was to provide a spring board into teaching undergraduate midwives in midwifery and medical law to other healthcare cohorts at Swansea University, where I have enjoyed working since October 2011.
