My research involves utilising a range of biophysical techniques such as neutron reflectivity, atomic force microscopy, brewster angle microscopy, ellipsometry and electron microscopy to study interactions between antimicrobial agents and bacterial cell membranes. Specifically, measuring interactions between antimicrobial peptides / polymers and bacterial cell membranes, understanding bacterial resistance mechanisms to antimicrobial peptides and polymers and the production and characterisation of model bacterial membranes. I am also interested in the dissemination of microbiological information through traditional and social media. Department Responsibilities Module co-ordinator: Cell Biology, Health and Disease and Infection Sciences. Lecturer at the University of Lincoln since 2009, teaching microbiology, cell biology and molecular biology across the School of Life Science’s full range of degree programmes.
