I completed my degree in Microbiology at the University of Bristol in 1998, and continued my interest in the area of antibiotic resistance for my PhD in the University of Hertfordshire. While completing my PhD thesis, I worked as Quality Manager in the UKAS accredited laboratory The Biodeterioration Centre, based within the University of Hertfordshire. In 2003, I was appointed as a Lecturer at the University of Lincoln, where I teach and research in the areas of microscopy, microbiology and molecular biology, and have become heavily involved in innovative teaching development and strategy. I have had a wide range of responsibilities during my time at Lincoln, including programme and module leadership and membership of School/College and University committees. Department Responsibilities As a lecturer on the teaching, learning and professional practice role profile, I teach across a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules within the Schools of Life Sciences, Chemistry and Pharmacy. I also support the non-medical prescribing programme within the School of Health and Social Care. I am module lead for the final year independent research module, which includes the organisation of the College of Science presentation event in the Engine Shed towards the end of the academic year. I am also Student Engagement Champion for the School of Life Sciences, which leads to my involvement in the senior management group of the school, the teaching and learning committee and student representation procedures. Finally, I support and mentor colleagues in developing their teaching skills, with an aim to encourage application to the HEA for associate fellowship and fellowship.
