Prof Dr Martin Lear is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemistry, College of Science, and is an Adjunct Professor of the Global Leader Program at Tohoku University, Science and Engineering. He has spent over 18 years in Asia (mostly in Japan at Tohoku University, with 8 years tenure at the National University of Singapore) and has co-founded a drug-labelling company to combat drug resistance. To date, he has enjoyed mentoring and learning research from 16 PhD, 4 MSc, and 30 BSc students. His current interests lie in developing powerful oxidative and photo-redox methods and applying these methods in both an organic synthesis and MedChem context.
