个人简介
After a first undergraduate degree in modern languages at Leeds University, Dr Burton studied medicine at the University of Leicester, graduating with Honours in 2001. He is now an Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the Leicester General Hospital with clinical responsibility for the Leicester Dialysis Programme and is lead clinician for exercise rehabilitation in that group. He is also a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation at the University of Leicester with a personal focus on clinical research in the area of cardiovascular disease in renal patients. His research into cardiac injury in dialysis patients has informed national and international guidelines on the management of blood pressure, was cited as the key UK research abstract of the last decade and led to the award of ‘European Young Scientist’ at the European Dialysis and Transplant Association Congress held in Stockholm in 2008. In February 2014, he was awarded a Clinician Scientist Fellowship by the National Institute of Health Research.
