As the global ecology system is rapidly worsened due to green-house effect, the call for technologies to eliminate CO2 (e.g., solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC)) and product eco-friendly energy (e.g., Alkaline water electrolyzer (AWE)) are of prime importance and gaining momentum globally for sustainable development. Dr. Yifei Sun's group focuses on the oxide materials, reactions, devices and equipments for advanced energy conversion/storage processes. At the atomicscale, the transportation of electron and ions in functional energy oxides under multiphysic fields (i.e., E and T) is our primary interest. Meanwhile, we are also enthusiastic about the strategies for controlled synthesis; the manipulations of microstructure and the modulations of electronic configuration. At the microscale, with the assist of various in-situ spectroscopies and modeling, our attention is paid to the catalytic conversion of small molecules (e.g., CH4, H2, O2 etc.) happening on gas/solid or liquid/solid interfaces. At the macroscale, the clean energy power equipments with high energy efficiency to realize global net-zero carbon emission is the target we keep pursuing.
