Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Najafpour received his BSc., MSc., and Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2009. He has been in Christian Albrechts University Kiel, Institute for Inorganic Chemistry (6 Months) under supervision of Professor Dr. Kurz. Mahdi is a recipient of several awards and fellowships from high school to now: Among the most influential scientists in their fields for 2017, as determined by Thomson Reuter The Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) award in the category of science and technology 2017 Young Iranian Researcher of year in Nanotechnology (selected by National Nanotechnology 2017) Among 50th top graduated scientists from Sharif University of Technology 2017 Rank 16th National Nanotechnology Festival 2015 Among the best researchers in Iran 2015 selected by ministry of science (16th Festival 2015) Academy of Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran Award 2015 Rank 27th National Nanotechnology Festival 2014 Selected for the TWAS Young Affiliateship-2014 from the Central and South Asian Region by the TWAS Trieste, Italy. As a nanobioinorganic chemist, Mahdi believes that with learning strategies from natural photosynthesis, design of modern catalysts for all reactions using only earth abundant, low cost and environmentally friendly metal ions is possible. Mahdi and his research group explore transition-metal compounds as water-oxidizing catalysts for artificial photosynthesis.
