研究方向以机构理论为核心,在机构学、力学和结构工程等多学科的交叉领域,重点研究可展结构的设计方法、过约束机构的构建与运动学特性分析、折纸结构的机构学模型与超材料设计方法等基础理论,及其在大型航天展开结构、新型轻质工程结构、医疗折展结构等方面的工程应用,形成了较为完整的机构理论与结构设计交叉融合的科研体系
