Career History 2014 - present: University Teacher, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology University of Sheffield, UK 2014: Teaching Assistant, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology University of Sheffield, UK 2009 - 2012: Research Associate, Plant Science, University of Cambridge, UK 2011: Academic tutor, Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge, UK 2007 - 2008: Research Associate, Cell and Developmental Biology, John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK 2003 - 2007: Gatsby PhD Studentship, John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK About The first part of my career was supported by the Sutton Trust who generously funded my undergraduate studies in Biochemistry and Genetics at the University of Nottingham. I went on to complete a Sainsbury Undergraduate Studentship on seed metabolism with Prof Ian Graham and the University of York. In 2003 I moved to Norwich to complete a Gatsby PhD Studentship with Prof. Nick Harberd at the John Innes Centre where I investigated genes that influence the growth rate of the model plant, Arabidopsis thaliana. After my PhD, I completed a short post-doc with Prof Caroline Dean studying vernalization responses of Brassica oleracea crops. I then moved to the Plant Science department at the University of Cambridge to investigate the meiotic trigger in early land plants (mosses and liverworts) with Dr Ian Henderson. While at Cambridge I acted as an academic tutor for Murray Edwards College, created meiotic outreach activities for Cambridge Science Week and designed the plant science practicals for the Cambridge Sutton Trust Summer School.
