个人简介

Dr Mark Spillman was appointed as a teaching fellow in Inorganic and Physical chemistry in September 2014. Prior to this, he worked for nine months in the group of Dr Kenneth Shankland at the University of Reading as a post-doctoral research assistant, in conjunction with Reading Science Services Limited (RSSL). During this period, his research interests focussed on quantitative phase analysis using the Rietveld method. His PhD was supervised by Dr Kenneth Shankland and Professor Adrian C. Williams at the University of Reading, where he developed a number of software-based approaches to enhance and accelerate computational techniques for crystal structure determination from powder-diffraction data. During this period he worked closely with a number of collaborators studying a diverse range of pharmaceutical materials in various crystalline forms. Prior to his PhD he pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Oxford (Merton College) and completed a Master's thesis supervised by Professor Timothy P. Softley, investigating molecular hydrogen Rydberg states.
