个人简介

I am a molecular biologist with a major research interest in genetic abnormalities in human cancers as biomarkers for cancer diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. I gained a PhD in Molecular Oncology and completed my early post-doctoral training at Cancer Research UK and Southampton University, where my research on oxidative DNA damage led to a better clarification of the cytotoxic mechanism of the anti-cancer drug 5-FU. During that period I also established a model which may help to understand the molecular consequences of unbalanced translocations in human cancer. I joined the Neuro-oncology Research Group led by Prof. Geoff Pilkington at Portsmouth University in 2009 and I have recently become an HEFCE-funded Senior Research Fellow. Currently I am investigating mitochondrial abnormalities in the development and progression of human cancers, novel therapeutic agents across blood-brain barrier, the Gas6/Axl pathway in brain tumour chemosensitivity, and improved gene therapy of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
