个人简介

Dr Mike Foulkes obtained his first degree, Graduateship of the Royal Institute of Chemistry (GRIC)in 1979 from the University of Hertfordshire. In 1985, he left industrial research to study at the University of Plymouth, in the Department of Environmental Sciences, for a PhD into 'Fundamental Studies of the Analysis of Slurries by Plasma Emission Spectroscopy'. He was awarded his doctorate in 1989 for the thesis entitled 'Plasma Spectrochemical Analysis of Slurries'. Between 1988 and 1990 he took up the position of Post-doctoral Research Fellow, (University of Plymouth), in collaboration with MAFF (now DEFRA) into ‘Arsenic Speciation in Poultry’. It was during this period that had previously been an interest in demonstrating and teaching, led to the attainment of a formal teaching qualification in further education. In 1990, he was awarded the Perkin-Elmer Lectureship in Inorganic Chemistry, in the Department of Environmental Sciences, (University of Plymouth)and from 1991 to the present, has lectured in Inorganic Chemistry and Analytical/ Environmental Chemistry. In addition, Dr Foulkes utilises his experience from his full-time industrial research laboratory environment (1972-1985)to tackle various contracts focusing on industrially-orientated problems.
