Dr Julian Archer is Director of the Collaboration for theAdvancement of Medical Education Research & Assessment (CAMERA) at PlymouthUniversity Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, UK. He is personallyfunded by a prestigious National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Career Development Fellowship. His research explores the impact of assessment in the workplace onlearning, healthcare professionals, health service systems, their management,delivery and related politics.
This work includes large scale programmaticresearch funded by, amongst others; the NIHR, General Medical Council, GeneralDental Council, Health Foundation and the Medical Board of Australia tounderstand the impact of medical revalidation and fitness-to-practiseprocedures.
He is Chief Investigator of UMbRELLA (Uk Medical RevalidationEvaluation coLLAboration), an independent research collaboration, funded by theGMC, to explore the regulatory impact of medical revalidation (www.umbrella-revalidation.org.uk).
He is a consultant community paediatrician with a specialistinterest in behavioural paediatrics and child mental health. He is particularlyinterested in developing integrated services with CAMHS colleagues aroundcommon behavioural paediatric conditions such as ASD and ADHD and theircomorbidities.
