研究领域
I am an applied vertebrate ecologist, interested in researching novel, humane, sustainable solutions to problems arising between people and wildlife. I specialize in the ecology and management of wild deer and have also focused on the involvement of wildlife in the epidemiology of livestock diseases (badgers and bovine TB, wild boar and classical swine fever), biosecurity on farms and in aquatic environments, and mitigation of road impacts on protected species. I am particularly interested in accounting for and communicating uncertainty to ensure that decisions to rectify problems with wildlife are sufficiently informed.
I work part-time at the University and part time at the Animal and Plant Health Agency’s National Wildlife Management Centre, where I manage a programme of wildlife research and operations delivery primarily for Defra.
