研究领域

The aim of my previous and current research is to understand the mechanisms which regulate gene expression and function in endothelial and mesenchymal (including stem) cells in normal and pathological conditions. Currently the focus of my laboratory is on genetic, molecular and cellular processes which play a role in tumour angiogenesis, virus-induced oncogenesis, origin and progression of sarcoma, and cancer-related lymphedema; with the prospective long-term goal to contribute to the development of novel therapies for these pathologies. In our studies, we apply interdisciplinary approach to investigate study molecular mechanisms regulating mammalian cell biology in health and pathology (using models of human disease) in clinical investigations/studies in human and murine primary tissues and cells and in animal studies. Our research is based on long-term collaborations within the United Kingdom and globally (Japan, Sweden, Australia and Italy) which yielded several discoveries and patents in the fields of cancer and vascular biology. Key Interests Cancer biology, vascular biology, endothelial cell biology in health and disease, tumour angiogenesis, G-protein coupled receptors, mesenchymal stem cells, genomics, lymphangiogenesis, transcription factors.
