研究领域

My current research focuses on how the teaching of STEM subjects can be made more effective. I am particularly interested in the benefits of student partnership approaches, and how student self-efficacy affects educational achievement. I am also interested in the benefits of authentic student research dissemination, and am working in collaboration with Dr Caroline Douglas in the Department of Sport, Health and Exercise Science to evaluate the impacts of their Student Thesis Conference. My scientific background is in plant cell biology, where I have focussed on the role of calcium signalling. My research has identified novel cytosolic components of the plant circadian clock, and I have also used single-cell imaging approaches to investigate abiotic stress pathways in stomatal guard cells. I am also the author of one of the American Society of Plant Biology Teaching Tools collection.
