个人简介

Tim read Chemistry at Oxford and continued there for a DPhil in materials chemistry under Matt Rosseinsky, which included a soujourn in Liverpool. His work involved synthesis and chracterisation of metal-organic frameworks. He carried out postdoctoral work with Peter Battle into anisotropic oxides and metal nitrides, discovering a facile route to interstitial nitrides with the filled β-manganese and η-carbide structures. Tim spent two and half years working as a Station Scientist for single crystal X-ray diffraction at the UK Synchrotron Radiation Source, Daresbury. He joined the department in Hull in April 2007.

Solid State Chemistry Non-oxide ceramics Intermetallics Crystallography My research is centred around the design of new solids and understanding how the structures they adopt influence their properties. A great deal of my work involves X-ray diffraction to characterise new materials, from nitrides to alloys, pharmaceuticals, and co-crystals.
