个人简介

Prof. P.D.I. Fletcher obtained a BSc in Chemistry from King’s College, University of London in 1976. He studied with Prof. Brian Robinson at the University of Kent to understand how surfactant aggregates influenced the kinetics of fast reactions and was awarded a PhD in 1982. Following two periods as a post-doctoral researcher, he was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hull in 1984 and promoted to Professor of Physical Chemistry in June 1996. He served as Head of Department of Physical Sciences (Chemistry and Physics) at the University of Hull from Feb. 2003 to July 2007.

研究领域

Materials Chemistry

Prof. Fletcher’s research is concerned with the colloid and surface chemistry of systems including particle dispersions, monolayers, micelles, microemulsions, foams, emulsions, liquid crystals, liposomes and Lab-on-a-Chip micro reactors. He has published over 190 research papers and patents, was ranked in the top 0.5% of publishing chemists on the basis of citations as of June 1997 and was awarded the RSC Colloid & Interface Science Group Medal in 2004. His research group attracts extensive funding from both Research Councils and Industry with industrial project partners including Schlumberger, Reckitt Benckiser, GSK, Syngenta, Nalco, Lubrizol and EPSRC. Current projects include enhanced oil recovery, corrosion inhibition, novel methods of encapsulation, evaporation rates, novel pharmaceutical formulations, control of crystallisation, permeability of molecules through liquids and polymer films and triggered release. A common theme of all projects is to develop and use fundamental science to produce, understand and optimise novel applications. Research interests Surface and colloid chemistry including monolayers, micelles, microemulsions, liquid crystals, emulsions, foams and nanoparticles Miniaturised micro-reactor devices
