个人简介

Mr. Duncan Wood is a lecturer and the convener of Writing about Infographics in the English Language Centre at BNU-HKBU United International College. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Anglia Ruskin University (UK) and a Master of Arts in TESOL/Linguistics from Birmingham University (UK). He became interested in teaching English as a second language and received a TEFL certificate in Perth, Australia in 2005. Before joining UIC in February 2018, Duncan taught at the Foreign Experimental Middle School in Sichuan province (2006) and also taught in Changsha, Hunan province for 1 year (2012 to 2013) where he taught high school and college students IELTS speaking and writing. For nearly two decades he has taught a variety of students in China ranging from kindergarten and children to teenagers, university students and business professionals. Duncan was also a TEFL Teacher Trainer and taught modules in Language and Learning, Teaching Techniques, Lesson Planning, The Basic Paradigm, Classroom Management, Teaching Grammar, Teaching Pronunciation, Assessment in Language Testing, Evaluating Texts and Adapting Course Books and Cultural Awareness for trainee teachers and experienced teachers from a variety of countries, such as England, America, South Africa, France, and China, etc., so they could graduate with the TEFL International Certification. Duncan joined UIC in 2018 and has also been involved in the FLTRP speech competition as a coach and as the leader of the program. His current research interests include sociolinguistics, first and second language acquisition, cultural identity, variations in accents, dying languages and multi-modal communication.
