Dr Gerhard has an MSc in Chemistry (Dipl Chem) from the University of Cologne and was awarded a PhD from the University of Cambridge for her work with Professor Dudley Williams, investigating the molecular interactions of small peptides in aqueous solutions. Ute has a strong research track record, with over 19 years experience in pharmaceutical research and development, and she is author of over 25 publications to date. She was awarded the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Outstanding Manuscript Award in Analysis and Pharmaceutical Quality in 2004. Ute is an expert in spectroscopic techniques such as NMR spectroscopy and Mass spectrometry. She has applied her wide ranging analytical and problem solving expertise in the pharmaceutical industry to support chemical development, manufacturing, basic research including medicinal chemistry and drug metabolism. Ute is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
