个人简介

Anwar Baydoun is an expert in Cardiovascular Pharmacology. An accomplished researcher in the field of cell signalling, applying his work to understanding physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms that may generate novel targets for drug development. He is most widely known for his work on nitric oxide and cationic amino acid transporters but also researches into the mechanisms that regulate the differentiation of stem cells into cardiomyocytes as well as those that regulate the process of vascular calcification in kidney and/or cardiovascular disease states. He is a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society and currently Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Hertfordshire. He is also the Associate Dean Research in the School of Life and Medical Sciences and the Head of Research Degrees in Health and Human Sciences Research Institute. He collaborates extensively with clinicians and with Pharmaceutical industries in developing in vitro models for drug screening and/or disease states. Present Positions 2005- Present Professor of Pharmacology, School of Life and Medical Sciences Associate Dean Research, School of Life and Medical Sciences Head of Research Degrees, Health and Human Sciences Previous Positions 2002-2005 Reader in Molecular Pharmacology 1998-2002 Senior Lecturer in Biosciences, University of Hertfordshire 1997-1998 British Heart Foundation Research Fellow, King’s College London 1994-1997 British Heart Foundation Intermediate Fellow, King’s College London 1989-1994 Postdoctoral Research Fellow, King's College London 1987-1989 Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Bath
