个人简介

Dr Debbie Bartlett, having received a BSc Hons in environmental physiology, worked in a range of areas gaining experience in parasitology (Pfizer) horticulture and ecology before studying for a Master's in Landscape Ecology Design and Management. She then followed a path of professional development, working in the public sector, and achieving Chartered Landscape Architect (Management Division) status and full membership of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management. Debbie is particularly interested in the role of agriculture and forestry in shaping the landscape, past and present, and the impact on both natural and cultural heritage. Her current research focus is on the socio-economic aspects of the coppice industry, the farmed landscape, coastal ecology and conservation policy. She combines her role at the university, which is on a 0.8 basis, with consultancy. She became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management in October 2009 and received a 'Best Practice' award for the MSc Environmental Conservation programme, now the first to be accredited by this professional Institute. Debbie also sits on the Training Education and Career Development committee for CIEEM, is vice convenor for the South East Section, is an expert advisor to the Heritage Lottery Fund and UK representative on the Management Committee of the COST Action on traditional coppice woodland in Europe running from 2013 to 2017.
