个人简介

Liz is a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Exeter Medical School who has been part of the DISCO team (Diagnosis of Symptomatic Cancer Optimally) since 2010. She is a chartered psychologist and a member of the British Psychological Society. Working with Professor Willie Hamilton, her current research focuses on identifying the early clinical features (symptoms, signs, diseases and abnormal test results) of cancer and quantifying the level of risk each feature has when reported by patients to their GP in the year before their cancer diagnosis. Her primary focus has been the urinary (bladder and kidney) and haematological cancers (multiple myeloma, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma and chronic and acute leukaemia). Risk Assessment Tools showing the significant features for these and other cancers have been implemented across GP surgeries in the UK. Liz is a co-applicant on a Department of Health Policy Research Programme (PRP) grant investigating bowel disease in young adults. She currently co-supervises one PhD student within the DISCO team. Qualifications PhD in Psychology. 2005. University of Essex. MSc in Developmental Neuropsychology. 2000. University of Essex
