个人简介

Claire started her research career working for the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guys’ and St Thomas’s Hospital as Project Manager on a project funded by the IOC and EU to develop a test for catching Growth Hormone doping athletes. Claire then moved to Kings College London at St Thomas' Hospital to design and implement exercise intervention studies for people with endocrine disorders such as type 2 diabetes, growth hormone deficiency and Metabolic Syndrome X. This is where Claire gained a 2 year grant from Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals Charity to test a pilot Exercise on Referral service for people with Type 2 diabetes in South London. Claire then undertook her PhD: ‘Factors affecting uptake and adherence to exercise referral for people with chronic conditions’ at London South Bank University. Claire then was the deputy manager for the Primary Care Research Network for Greater London before moving to the University of Exeter as trial manager of BAcPAc, a pilot study combining Behavioral Activation with Physical Activity promotion, and delivered within IAPT services (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies). Claire is currently working within the Complex Interventions Research Group at the University of Exeter Medical School, working on Essential Care in Nursing. This project addresses the lack of evidence in essential nursing care practices around topics including eating and drinking, washing and dressing, mobility and communication. We will be implementing a number of clinical trials that will involve nurses and patients in different care settings (care homes, Hospital and in patients’ own homes). This project involves collaboration with academics and researchers at the University of Plymouth the University of Southampton, charities (AgeUK and Healthwatch) and with patients as advisors.
