个人简介

Dr Siobhan O’Dwyer is a Senior Lecturer in Ageing and Family Care, and a member of the REACH group. She has qualifications in Psychology, Human Movement Studies, and Higher Education. From 2008 to 2010, Siobhan conducted applied research and policy development at the National Seniors Productive Ageing Centre (Canberra, Autralia). From 2011 to 2015 she held a number of Research Fellowships at Griffith University (Brisbane, Australia), including positions with the Centre for Health Practice Innovation and the Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention. Siobhan’s research focuses on the wellbeing of older adults and family carers. Her research on suicide and homicide risk in people caring for family members with dementia was a world-first. It was also covered extensively in the Australian media, led to changes in practice and policy, and informed the play Yielding. Siobhan has also contributed to Professor Wendy Moyle’s research on innovative, non-pharmacological approaches to managing the symptoms of dementia, including large trials of massage therapy and robotic animals, and pilot studies of telepresence robots. In conducting her research Siobhan works closely with the service providers and community organisations that support older people and family carers. She has been a carer herself and understands the importance of conducting research that leads to practical outcomes. Siobhan is also the founder of Shut Up and Write Tuesdays, tweets at @Siobhan_ODwyer, blogs at Research That Cares, and believes that the path to good research is paved with cake. Qualifications Bachelor of Arts (2003) Doctor of Philosophy (2009) Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (2010)
