研究领域

Professor McCabe researches basic and applied aspects of mental health care, with a focus on professional-patient communication. She has a particular interest in conditions in which communication may be affected by a disorder, including psychosis, depression and dementia. Rose‘s research analyses real clinical consultations to identify social deficits and challenges in communication and translate these findings into novel interventions to improve communication and patient outcomes in mental healthcare. This work has been funded by e.g. the Medical Research Council, the National Institute for Health Research and joint Medical Research Council and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Councils. Central to Rose‘s research are interdisciplinary collaborations with e.g. sociology (conversation analysis to analyse communication), computational linguistics (automatic identification of features of communication) and computer science (3D motion capture of nonverbal behaviour) both nationally (e.g., University of Bristol, University College London, University of York) and internationally (University of California Los Angeles, Technische Universitat Muenchen).
