研究领域

Understanding context is key to developing an intervention that is feasible and acceptable to the target group and having spent the past 6 years developing a complex behavioural intervention to prevent obesity in school children has led Dr Lloyd to focus on the science of complex adaptive systems in order to understand the wider ramifications of intervening and the interactions that occur not only between components of the intervention but between the intervention and the context in which it is being delivered. Interventions impact on evolving networks of person-time-place interaction, changing relationships, displacing existing activities and redistributing and transforming resources and this has implications for how interventions should be evaluated and how they could be made more effective. The Healthy Lifestyles Programme utilises a range of behaviour change techniques, however it is the dynamic interaction between these techniques, their mode of delivery, the skills and competencies of the deliverer as well as the characteristics of the participants that render them effective or not in any particular context. She is particularly interested in how context and mechanism (make up, behaviour and interrelationships of the processes) work together to deliver the outcome.
