个人简介

Paolo Landa joined the health economics group in February 2016. Paolo has a background in Operations Research Applied to Health Care, Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment. His current work focuses on evaluating the reorganization of the Neonatal Care Network in England, Cost effectiveness and outcome evaluation of Rehabilitation Training after stroke and simulation modelling for HTA and Health care organizations. Prior to joining the Health Economics Group Paolo was as a data and software manager and business Intelligence analyst working for a hospital and local health care agency in Genoa, Italy . He has also worked with the Health Economics and Operational Research Group led by Prof. Angela Testi and Dr. Elena Tanfani in the Department of Economics and Business studies of the University of Genoa. Part of this research looks at evaluating a Platelet-Rich Plasma economic evaluation for the Italian healthcare system, a project run by Dr Salvatore Russo at the Department of Management of University "Ca' Foscari" of Venice(Italy). His PhD is in Applied Economic and Quantitative methods was supervised by Prof. Angela Testi and Dr. Elena Tanfani, and his MSc in Maritime and Logistic Economics were both at the University of Genoa (Italy). During his PhD he made also two period in 2011 and 2012 respectively as visiting student and research assistant at HEC Business School of Montréal (Canada) supervised by Prof. Patrick Soriano (Department of Decision Sciences). Qualifications 2014 PhD in Applied Economics and Quantitative Methods (University of Genoa, Italy) 2006 BSc and MSc in Maritime and Logistics Economics (University of Genoa, Italy)

研究领域

Qualitative Methods applied to Health Care Cost-Effectiveness Analysis Health Technology Assessment Simulation (Discrete-Events, Agent Based and System Dynamics) Operations Research Applied to Health Care Optimization Stochastic programming Paolo's main research interests are in the areas of health economic modelling and operations research applied to health care. With respect to modelling, he has a particular interest in the use of Markov models and Discrete Event simulation models to develop cost-effectiveness analysis. Paolo is currently involved in two studies related to the NeoNET and ReTrain project. The first One of these (supervised by Prof Martin Pitt and Prof Anne Spencer) aims to understand the current and potential future national patterns of neonatal care in England. This will be achieved by studying location of demand and care, acuity of care, and cost of care to service providers and parents. Modelling techniques will be used to investigate the trade-offs between different service configurations with varying degrees of centralisation. Extensive analysis will be conducted to assess the economic aspects of different scenarios, with patient consultation forming a key part of the project. The second one consists in the economic evaluation and outcome analysis of Community-based Rehabilitation Training after stroke from a pilot randomised controlled trial (ReTrain). Paolo has also continued his interest in issues of publication of Simulation modelling and OR to health care, especially with hybrid simulation model development and stochastic programmming and robust optimisation for OR planning. He has also collaborations as pharmacoeconomist with the Department of Health Care Science of the University of Genova (Italy) and the Department of Management of the University "Ca' Foscari" of Venice (Italy).
