个人简介

I have been a lecturer for many years, teaching a diverse range of topics in sociology and health and social care. My expertise is in the sociology of health and illness. My research has focused on pregnancy and the post-birth period. Research projects have examined maternal obesity/diabetes in pregnancy and the experiences of ‘older’ mothers. I am now a Research Fellow on the Antenatal Prophylactic Pelvic Floor Exercises and Localisation (APPEAL) Programme. I will be carrying out ethnographic fieldwork to inform the clinical trial. Qualifications BA (Hons) Contemporary History and Social Science PGCE MSc Social Research (Distinction) PhD (Sociology) ‘Discourses pertaining to, and lived experiences of, Maternal Obesity and Gestational Diabetes Mellitus/Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the pregnancy and post-birth period’ ASPIRE Fellow/Fellow of the Higher Education Academy
