个人简介

I have a background in epidemiology, health impact assessment, and environmental geochemistry/geology which provides me with an insight into many aspects of the full causal chain that can be mapped out between environmental stressors and potential health impacts on human populations. As both an epidemiologist and health impact assessor I have also worked on occupational exposures. Globally, I am interested in the application of evidence-based methods in decision-making as a means of improving human health, and have been fortunate to work on a number of large interdisciplinary projects developing methods, data and collaborative networks to this end. At ECEHH I work exclusively on the Horizon 2020-funded BlueHealth project, within which my time is divided between being the overall project manager and carrying out research on the potential effect of the natural environment on health. In particular, my role as a researcher is focused on the design, implementation and interpretation of a large survey on wellbeing and “blue space” (natural and built environment featuring water bodies), and analysis and interpretation of related secondary data. 研究领域

Over the past fifteen years I have worked in a number of research areas relating to the environment, occupation, and health. This work has included modelling of environmental processes, exposure assessment, epidemiological analysis, systematic review and meta-analysis, and health impact assessment based on epidemiological and secondary data. I have an interest in the treatment of multiple types of uncertainty in exposure assessment, epidemiological modelling and quantitative health impact assessment. I strongly believe that the results of publicly-funded research should be made available to the public and find engagement with the public a particularly rewarding part of my work.
